Sturm Heating & Air Conditioning, a leading HVAC contractor in the Greater Spokane area for more than 85 years, is immediately hiring an HVAC Service / Startup Technician.
Position: HVAC Service / Startup Technician
Location: Spokane, WA
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, OT as needed
Pay: $38 - $40/hr (DOE)

HVAC Service / Startup Technician Position Summary:
The HVAC Service / Startup Technician performs system and startup on split systems, rooftop units, energy recovery ventilators, exhaust fans, ductless split systems, and VRF systems. Installation and programming of manufacture controls for VRF and Energy recovery systems. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with the fore-mentioned equipment.
Job Requirements
HVAC Service / Startup Technician Desired Licenses:
- 06A Electrical License
- EPA Universal
- Gas Mechanics 1
- CPR Certification desired
- Man-Lift and Grade-all certification desired
- Fall protection certification desired
- Idaho Journeyman’s card desired
HVAC Service / Startup Technician Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Proficient in Carrier, Mitsubishi, and Samsung VRF system controls, programming, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient understanding of refrigerant, gas, and electric furnaces, heat pumps, troubleshooting, and installation of all commercial systems.
- Ability to wire, configure, and troubleshoot economizer Jade controllers/modulating 0–10-volt DC motorized dampers.
- Expertise in mechanical and control systems will include the ongoing identification and diagnosis, ongoing troubleshooting, and operation assessment of mechanical equipment such as sensor failures, sensor calibration, actuators (valves, dampers), and on-air handler systems.
- Ability to make system repairs. Examples are control boards, pressure switches, temperature sensors, and economizer controls.
- General knowledge of all HVAC low voltage systems
- Understand and apply all codes for residential and light commercial projects.
- Exceptional Safety knowledge of tools, testing devices, and surroundings
